Recall on Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon Trucks Due to Steering Faults

Published on April 23rd, 2021

General Motors is recalling 60,000 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks from the 2015 model year. The issue revolves around a faulty part within the power steering assembly as it may result in the truck’s power steering stopping working.

The issue is due to a poor electrical connection in the power steering system. If the power steering functionality fails, it may result in an illuminated warning light that appears on the dashboard. Drivers will notice the problem as soon as the vehicle is started.

Issue Pronounced at Slower Speeds

In the case that the power steering doesn’t operate while the vehicle is moving, it may result in the driver needing to use more force to keep the vehicle steered properly. This increases the risk of an accident developing.

The issue in these vehicles is especially apparent when the car is traveling at a slower speed such as backing out of the driveway or driving through a parking lot.

GM is not aware of any injuries or crashes related to this recall.
