Ford Focus Recall Due to Stall Risk

Published on November 12th, 2019

Ford is currently recalling 58,000 2012-2014 and 2017 Focus vehicles because of a software update that they received as part of a previous recall that wasn’t fully completed. The original recall aimed to remedy the gas tank that could result in a loss of power, inaccurate fuel gauge readings or an indicator light that signals a malfunction has occurred.

If drivers are operating the vehicle while any of the above problems occur, it may increase their chances of getting into an accident or causing an injury. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries that occurred as a result of the defect.

Fixing the Issue

Dealers are remedying the problem by reprogramming the affected vehicles’ software; this will prevent the emissions system from malfunctioning in the future. If replacement components are needed, owners will not be charged.
