Hyundai Recalls Vehicles Due to Fire Risk

Published on February 12th, 2021

Hyundai recently issued a recall for the following vehicles:

  • 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis
  • 2017-2020 Genesis G80
  • 2019-2021 Genesis G70

The recall revolves around a defective anti-lock braking module that has the potential to short-circuit and cause a fire. This risk is present while the car is driving as well as when it is parked with the engine turned off.

Hyundai has warned owners that they need to park their cars away from their homes and other structures that may catch on fire, including vegetation. This is unrelated to a similar Hyundai recall for Kona and Ioniq electric vehicles due to the risk of a battery fire.

What Drivers Can Do

Drivers of impacted Hyundai Genesis vehicles can visit their local dealership to get the issue fixed free of charge. They will install a new fuse that has a lower amperage.
