Toyota Recalls over 6 million Vehicles

Published on May 4th, 2018

Toyota will issue five separate recalls that affect over 6 million vehicles to correct problems in 27 Toyota models, including the RAV4, Corolla, Matrix, Viz, Yaris, Highlander, Tacoma and Camry. Faults were also found in the Pontiac Vibe and the Subaru Trezia which were manufactured by Toyota. The largest of the recalls will apply to approximately 3.5 million vehicles to replace a spiral cable that could be damaged during steering. Damage to the spiral cable could cause the airbag to fail in the event of a crash. The second largest of the recalls will apply to approximately 2.3 million three-door models, made between January 2005 and August 2010, to check for a fault in the seat rails. Faulty seat rails could cause the seat to slide forward in a crash and cause injury to the driver and passengers. The other three recalls are to correct problems with faulty steering column brackets that may become lose or fail, windshield wiper motors and engine starters.
